Joanie Lingerfelt, has owned and operated The Briar Patch since 1986. The restaurant first opened in 1948. She leased the building and eventually bought it in 1995.

Bill has been with the Briar Patch through thick and thin and survived both of the devastating fires to return enthusiastically to practice his culinary art.
Stuart Lingerfelt
Lingerfelt's daughter, Stuart, gave up her position at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville to help her mother reopen.
Another important helper is Frank Turner,the Briar Patch “official taster”.
